Firstly, I’d like to give a massive shoutout to all thegorgeous souls who joined me for an in-person workshop at the studio!
It was an honest session where we dove into a lot!
Here’s a summary of what we covered:
Emotional Eating
When we emotionally eat or comfort eat there is a distinct clue in the label – it’s not the eating part that we need to look at (most of us know vegetables, fruit, lean proteins and good quality carbs and fats are good for us) it’s the emotions.
It’s the feeling driving the action that creates the result or we’d all be robots …
So what feeling is driving your emotional eating?
Is it boredom? Tiredness? Sadness? Or like one client I have who openly admitted it was actually the avoidance of feeling altogether?
So the work then isn’t found in a new diet plan, it’s foundin a new way to process and feel our emotions …
Self-Sabotage
Controversial but I do not believe in self-sabotage. Humans are pleasure seeking beings – we don’t do things to hold our selves back or damage our results UNLESS we get something out of it ….
It’s called a secondary gain – something that our body, nervous system and mind would rather feel. We’re 95% programmed in our sub-conscious from every thought, feeling and action we’ve taken in the past. We’re not broken when we want to change – we’re just battling 5% conscious energy against 95% subconscious and that’s why sometimes change feels impossible. It’s not willpower, it’s math.
We create change through re-programming what’s happening in the sub-conscious mind – through the work I teach inside Root Cause Therapy and inside my programmes vs action and forcing yourself to take new actions and make new decisions.
Nervous System Regulation
It’s a trendy topic right now. But truthfully it isn’t just something you do on a Saturday when you feel like it – it’s a process of unravelling, a journey of getting to the Root Cause of your trauma or chronic stress and creating safety inside the body layer by layer.
This is a journey of nourishment not punishment. It’s a journey of feeling everything, healing what comes up with the right help and dealing with what comes up.
It’s a road less travelled so please don’t think a quick trip to a soundbath is going to clear up years of being unhappy.
That said, the journey is WORTH it. As somebody who feels very much on the other side of the healing season (for this round anyway) my experience of life is incredible. My ability to trust myself, know myself and like myself – standard.
This is the work I do with clients – I help you get to this place and from there GROW and expand.
Margie and George, and pivoting into reformer were a huge part of the journey of moving into the energy of being safe to be out of my head and in my body. The difference in me physically, emotionally and mentally is no doubt part of why they ask me to write this blog …
