In this month’s vlog which you can find here I dive intomy honest and slightly controversial view on resilience.
After training as a Root-Cause Therapist and spending years unravelling my bad habits, and processing trauma I can tell you that the model of resilience that’s taught – get back up when you get knocked on, be tough, take it on the chin etc is not actually resilience at all. It’s suppression and protection.
Resilience is actually a way to describe nervous system flexibility. A nervous system that can handle stress more fully because it feels safe to feel stressed without the need to eat or drink it away. A nervous system that knows how to close the loop on a stressful event because chronic stress isn’t exhausting you day to day.
Resilience can only be created when we feel safe to feel all feelings and know how to move through them. This is why deep diving into the root cause of our issues often creates instant transformation because we break the cycle / loop.
In this week’s vlogI break down how to create more resilience through some simple daily practices that don’t involve being tougher or having ‘it all together’.
I hope this helps and opens you up to being a little more kind to yourself ..
