If 2026 is going to be the year of change for you here’s some wisdom that might support you in that pursuit! In this month’s vlog I break down why change feels so hard.

Change doesn’t happen on January 1st, it happens when we do. Sounds obvious right? But here’s the thing most of us never really change. By the time you’re mid-life you’re 95% living on auto pilot, running your daily routines, habits, behaviours, thoughts and beliefs from your sub-conscious mind the part of your brain you’ve been storing things.

So, when you’re trying that new diet and think you have no willpower? Nope, you’re just 95% programmed in the opposite direction.

When you’re finally going to sort out your money and then you find yourself in the same spot ALL over again? you’re not broken – you’re just programmed.

When we try to just change by ‘discipline’ and ‘willpower’ we’re fighting a war of 5% of our conscious ability to think vs 95% of who we have been up to this point.

This is why change feels impossible sometimes.

But it’s more than possible you just need to know what to work with!

 

This is why you need to work with the more than just the actions or the behaviours and work deeper at the layer of belief, the layer of thought and most importantly at the layer of the nervous system. If our nervous system believes that every time we’re hungry that’s dangerous (because it means we must feel real emotions) then we’re going to stuff our face even if we’re on a diet .. if our body believes that being successful is risky then every time we start winning, we will find a way to sabotage it. Your body’s only job? Survive. So, when we programme survival behaviours that don’t align with our goals, we end up going round in circles.
