Lucy’s Monthly Blog | Building Body Confidence

How many times have you thought to yourself if I was just a bit slimmer here, more toned there or I could just lose a couple of pounds?

How often do you re-think an outfit because of how it fits and wish it looked different? How often are you hiding in tops you don’t like and outfits that don’t suit you just because they fit?

When was the last time you wore a swimsuit and felt fully confident?

Well, here’s the first truth for today. Your weight, size and shape does not make you immune to experiencing low body confidence!

I personally spent years unhealthily overweight and years desperately underweight and I wasn’t confident in either – no matter how I looked to other people.

That’s because confidence is an inside job …

Now, how we look can play a big role in how we feel (otherwise the diet and cosmetic industry wouldn’t exist!) but our state of confidence and how we feel is about the way we think, the stories we tell ourselves and the state of our nervous system.

I’ve talked in my previous videos and (no doubt in every video to follow) about the importance of nervous system regulation and doing the inner healing so that we can create a life that feels free, full of choice and full of joy and it’s no different when it comes to body confidence.

The way you see yourself is determined by so much more than what you see in the mirror. It’s the stories we tell, the words we use and how safe we’ve felt to be ourselves our whole lives. If life has been one negative reflection then no matter what the dress size or weight on the scales we won’t be ‘confident’.

What we’re all looking for is unconditional worth and we’re not going to find that when we measure ourselves against conditional values like scale weights and dress sizes.….

So where do you go from here?

Firstly, let’s look at what stories are running in the unconscious that we can shift and re-write! Using the journal prompts below and this video.

Secondly, it’s getting clear on what we actually want. Not what we should want, or what we think is expected of us but what we want and what we’re actually prepared to do.

Finally, it’s to marry the two together and from there take the first step.

That step might be to ask for some nutritional help, or it might be to reach out to someone like me to work on your self worth. Your story = your results.

You can always drop me a line at [email protected] or book a free discovery call here.

Your journal prompts:

–              What is this extra/lack of weight protecting me from?

–              What would I have to lose if I also lost/gained the weight?

–              If nothing was wrong with me and I liked how I looked how would my life change?

–              Where am I telling a story of sacrifice / suffering?

This work isn’t easy, but it is worth it!

See you in the studio!
